    Hi,

Need a bit of advice ...woke up to no pressure in the main tap this morning so went out to the shed and found my well pump had no pressure in it (see pic)

after a google I tracked it down to the switch ...undone the lid and found burn marks (see pic)

Questions are ...is the switch blow (im guessing yes)
-are new switches all the same ?
-Are they easy to install (as in replace the same way I took the t other out)
    -General cost

    Cheers

As far as I know they're the same. Ring somewhere like EPS. Google them for a number. They will advise you further. I think those pressure switches are no more than €20

Have you power coming to that switch? If yes and you force the contacts together, does the pump run?
NOTE: If you don't know what your are doing, get someone who does. You can electrocute yourself doing this.

Are you able to get at the 4 screws on the baseplate. You may be able to get it off that way. otherwise, it means undoing the connection to the tank.

Did you try this? Ensure you have a fused suitable supply to the switch.

There was always a possibility that it wasn't the switch. I did mention a few checks. Really if you were not competent to carry out those checks, it would have been better to have it looked at by an experienced person. Anyway now you have a spare pressure switch and a bit more knowledge.
Now You need to get out someone who knows how to diagnose the problem.

If all else fails, read the instructions!
Capacitor shouldn't have cost more than about €20
Having said that, the capacitor didn't fail for no reason.
I suggest you check the size of cable going to the motor.
If it is undersized, then your motor will be absorbing a higher than normal amperage. The weakest link in the system ( excluding the overload in the control box ) is the capacitor. You were lucky! Quite often, the motor burns out first.
    Very very expensive!
The cable size is related to the motor size and cable length.
If you need more information, feel free to contact me.
