Do people use Matt or Soft sheen mostly now for painting rooms in general ?
Obviously kitchens and bathrooms require special paint (Dulux bathroom and kitchen which is great btw) but I need to paint alot of my house and not sure whether to use Matt or Soft Sheen for the hall and landing.
Its a large house and the walls are really smooth .

I tried Matt in a bedroom but I didnt like the rough feel and it made the room look dull so I'm thinking Soft Sheen might be better for North facing rooms and Matt for south facing ?

Hi im a painter and i would always use soft sheen its a better finish and its easier to clean than the matt, the only issue you would have with softsheen is that if you need to touch it up sometimes it flashes, and never use matt in an area with high traffic as you would be lucky to get 6 months out of it.

Or u could use Colortrend Matt its wipeable, also they have product called Ceramic Matt (a bit more expensive) which is very good for cleaning if u dont like sheen finish.
Soft sheen is great if u have kiddies/pets and walls getting constantly dirty as its very easy to clean.

Thanks ,will check that out ,I've heard good things about Colortrend paints.
No kids but house is fairly dusty and I have 2 cats so wipe able paint would be nice.

the dulux washable matt is great I don't like soft sheen because I don't like the shine and it can show up a lot f mistakes if your plaster is poor

    Thanks.
I was going to start painting the hall and landing first (very large area) but I might do a few rooms first ,maybe one with the washable matt and one with soft sheen and see how I get on.
