Should I waterproof my tent

    Hi all,

Stupid question maybe but does a tent lose its waterproofness over time? I have a Vaude Taurus Ultralight (proper tent, not cheap @ about €400) and I've never had a problem with water leakage. Haven't used it in a few years though and I'm heading to the Alps on Sunday so wondering if I need to give it the 'Nikwax' treatment?

    Thanks,
    Vincent

If it was me I wouldn't bother.

It should be fine. Proper storage won't affect the waterproofing.

If you haven't used it in a few years I'd take it out and put it up make sure nothing is missing you would at least have time to sort it now. Then while you have it up you could give it a quick going over if you have some spare but it will probably be fine.
