I bought a game off of Adverts.ie and the lad who sold me the game posted the game at 1pm Friday and it is yet to arrive, hes even sent me on the receipt of the postage so I know it has been posted. Iv posted games in the past and at most they have taken 2 days to arrive so Im kinda worried that An Post might have messed up. Should I be worried, will I wait until Friday before I get on to the seller or whoever and look for an explanation? Have any of you been made wait this long for a delivery of something so small?

    @Chicharito11 Please don't bump a post that's only 15 minutes old.

Moved to Online Buying & Auctions (don't think it's directly related to Adverts per se).

Ther receipt for postage means nothing unless the package was registered .

That receipt could be for another package he posted on Friday

Ask him to confirm the address he sent the package to

Are you sure that's right? Whenever I've gotten a receipt of postage the post clerk has always written the postcode of the address the package is going to, on the receipt.

Postcodes in Ireland. Since when? Only Dublin has anything resembling a postcode.

Oh OK then. I'm not Irish. I thought every country had postcodes.

There are different types of receipts , and the main one is the white till receipt the postal clerk gives you .

There is another type , the green official receipt , which you can fill in and get the clerk to stamp confirming postage .

In my opinion , neither of these are reliable , and they will not confirm proof of delivery .

If you are buying online , proof of postage is not worth the paper it is written on .

Iv been in contact with the seller and today there is still no sign of the game. I'm confident that the game has been posted as the seller has good feedback and has been very good communication wise, I'm more worried that either he messed up accidentally when posting it or the post office messed up. What could I do if it has been posted to the wrong address or can I contact the post office and see if they have messed up? I'm clueless about what to do in this situation.

Its not up to you to prove anything in relation to this .

The onus is on the seller to prove item has been successfully delivered .

Ask the seller how much time he needs before you initiate a claim for refund .

( you have 30 days from payment date )

As the Adverts seller was likely to be a private person rather than a shop, there is no 'claim for refund' process per se

The seller is after filing a M58(?) to figure out what has happened, has the package been lost or delayed or what. Anyone know how long it will take for him to hear back? Im 100% confident he has posted the product as he has been nothing but helpful and professional throughout the whole process and he has good feedback. Does anyone know what will hapeen if it is found that the package has been lost?

An M58 is a request to An Post 'Enquiry form for missing, damaged or delayed items'

Bump please. Anyone have any experiences with M58's?
