Starting to cycle

    Just starting into cycling on the road how much should I spend to get started ???

    In all seriousness. Nobody can really answer that without you giving a bit more information.

    Can you avail of the bike to work scheme? If you can, depending on your tax situation you can get a 52% discount on up to 1000e of bike and accessories.

    Are you certain that you'll stick with it? If not then maybe you should buy a fairly cheap 2nd hand road bike (maybe 250 to 300e) and make sure that you are in it for the long haul.

    If you're absolutely certain then it depends on how much money you have. A good 600e bike can be a very nice bike. A good 1200e bike is a little nicer but really not much. I'd like a 3 grand bike but that's hard for me to justify. So it depends on how much that extra money matters to you.

    You'll need an additional budget for things like lock, helmet, padded cycling shorts (if the distance increases), mud guards, maybe cycling shoes after a while.
