    Hi there
    Have a .17 hmr it a nice little rifle
    but living on the west coast gets a bit too wind what is the next step up ???

    . 223 or. 204 would be my choice but you could look at the. 17 or 22 hornet too.

    Ammo selection is a bit better for the 223, that's what I have myself. You can get a box of 20 cheap ammo for about 10€ and the premium stuff like hornady vmax is €25+.

    The 204 is a brilliant round, very flat shooting, and you will pay around €25 a box of 20.

    A tight twist. 223 will stabilize heavier rounds up to the 75gr hornady stuff if you are shooting at long range.

    Depending on what type of shooting you intend doing, each has its advantage.

    Rifle prices vary but the second hand market has plenty of choice.

    .223 for price and more ammo selection .

    .204 be more accurate but wouldn have the heavy loads that the .223 .

    Resale .223 would better
