    Hi

I am wondering (its a long shot) if anyone on this is or knows someone related to a M Hodgett (probably a woman) who worked for David Hollander and Sons Ltd from 1934 -1966.

I presume that the person has passed on at this stage but would like to contact a relative if at all possible

If anyone has any tips for finding a person let me know by comment please or if by any chance someone I am looking for is reading this could you send me a PM
    Thanks

I dont know if this is the best forum for this so sorry if its yhe wrong one

    I dont know the person
I just found something that belongs to them and would like to return it to the family. Do you have any knowledge of this person?

Just put the word out that you have an inheritance for that family, that will see them come quick.

Where was this company located? Maybe try the regional forum and see if any relatives in the area see it.

From a very quick Google search it seems the company was in Birmingham so I'm presuming the person had moved here since

They appear to be silversmiths, so are you sure the person worked for them or did they just make a retirement gift?

Try the Irish Centre, Birmingham http://www.irishcentrebirmingham.co.uk/

Irish centres were an important part of the community back in the day.

If you are interested in selling it Op, do bring it to a reputable dealer, silver is worth a few bob, make sure you get right price, dont be taking 20 from someone on internet.

British historical phonebooks are available on line, on some pay family history sites. May be worth a look to see was there a family of this name in birmingham area.

Had a look on UKGEn for you but no obvious matches.

Op, why do you think its a woman< i would have thought it would have been a man, due to the early start in the job, wouldnt have been too may women working then Id have thought.

What type of piece is it? is it a womans piece of jewellery?

    I stand corrected...

''By the 1930s about one third of British women over 15 worked outside the home, of whom nearly a third still worked in domestic service. However, only one tenth of married women worked''

no, but he did say this..

'Is says the name of the company and underneath it M Hodgett 1934 -1966 for loyal service''

the name of the company is that of Silversmiths in Bermingham. I took a guess that its silver rather than anything else.

Why would they engrave their name on a different product?
