Which holes do you score best on?

Ideally from looking at your stats, what holes do you score best on? My lowest average is on par 5s (5.34). My average on par 3's is 3.83 and par 4's is 4.92. I'm also by far most likely to birdie par 5's at 10.5% birdies on them (compared to either side of 3% for others), but I'm also more likely to have a double or worse on them compared to par 3's (by 2%).

I'm just wondering where us amateurs fare best. I'd have thought the par 5s would be the best scoring, followed by the par 3s, basically because you always have a shot at the green from a reasonable position (well almost always!). This is true for me, but is it for most?

Edit: my birdie % is best on par 5's. This year it's approx 25%

Good idea for a thread, I took my last 20 rounds as being representative of current ability:

• Par 3 Scoring: 4.3
• Par 4 Scoring: 5.4
• Par 5 scoring: 6.5

What app are you using for birdie percentage? Off the top of my head I reckon I birdie a lot more short Par 4's than I do Par 5's.

I just took the figures from HDID and plugged them into excel.

Free tip, stop going for Par 5's in two!
With your Par 4 stats you should be laughing on the par 5s.

I would have bet that it had to do with the index values of the par 5s in Moate but was wrong.

No par 5s on the front nine and three on the back nine. Maybe tiredness is a factor.

This is from my new home course (Notts) where I've only played 7 rounds;

Handicap = 4

•Par 3 Scoring: 3.52
•Par 4 Scoring: 4.7
•Par 5 scoring: 4.95

Very good on the par 5's but crap everywhere else. My excuse is that I'm still familiarising myself with the course

Just a quarter of a shot difference between par 4s and 5s? Surely you could do something to lower those par 4 scores.

Completely agree. I'm still finding my feet on the course and to be fair some of the par 4's are very long, like the 18th which is 470 yards.

I also hadn't played any golf for 3 months prior to starting again in June, so my first few rounds were pretty bad. I've started playing better lately and will have 18 holes tomorrow night and again on Saturday, so we'll see how things go.

Last 20 rounds on all courses are the same except for Par 5s - 5.3

Surprised to vote for Par 3's as usually feel I do abysmal on them and generally least prefer them but how an ever the stats don't lie:

All courses (9 different tracks), last 20 rounds:
Par 3's 3.6
Par 4's 4.7
Par 5's 5.7

Last 10 rounds is slightly better but a worrying trend on the par 5s, need to seriously improve scoring there overall and disasters are generally not due to attacking them on 2 which I don't often attempt.

Surprised with that result. Length off the tee is my problem so that's why par 4's give me more problems.

I don't know is my answer unfortunately.

I went from 16 to scratch and back to 16 again this week due to some glitch in the system.
HC has been restored now but no hole by hole records from any of my qualifying rounds from this year or last on howdidido

Overall since I took up membership of a course (handicap down from 22 starting to 12 now over approx 5 years):

Par 4: 5.18
Par 5: 5.60

For the last year (June '13 -June '14, handicap static around 12)
Par 3: 3.66
Par 4: 4.90
Par 5: 5.48

Putting Average (last 24 rounds): 32.625

Scoring % (since I took up membership, don't have stats for this broken down by Par at the moment)
Eagle: 0.1%
Birdie: 3.47%
Par: 28.95%
Bogey: 42.71%
Double: 17.13%
Other: 7.64%
