Have a 7870 which has done a blinding job of every game ever but now the fans are acting up. Running at 50c idle hoovered it and now at 38c idle rises to 70 when playing which is not good.

Watercooled the I52500K last year and between them nothing has been a problem.

Time to upgrade or should i watercool the 7870 ?

What is the cost involved to cool,.vs a new card.

7870 go for 110 120 max second hand.

Better buy Second 7870 and get a lot more benefit.

Watercooling something like this is a pure waste of money. I understand Watercooling something like high end gpu or dual gpus like 7990 or gtx 790 stuff, but I still think it's a waste of money.

Can you add another can fan or two near the card?

Having a look around and new card cheaper option, my card usually gets handed down to the boy so may have to invest in a new fan for it.

When did the fans picking up start? Whats the rest of the cooling like in your case?

Ambient temps are quite high at the moment(for ireland anyway:)),as soon as the weather cools off a bit your temps should come down and hopefully reduce the fan noise. Mine are usually 10-15C hotter in the summer.

If your happy with the performance on the games your playing i dont see the need to do anything, bar improve your case fan set up to try get more fresh air for the card
