Denis Leary's new show Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll has been picked up by FX for a full series

In the series, Leary will play character Johnny Rock, who is attempting to reform the band that fired him in the early 1990s after he slept with their partners.
John Corbett, Elizabeth Gillies, Elaine Hendrix, Peter Tolan and Bobby Kelly will co-star

Anyone watching this? 2 episodes in, and I think it's fantastic. I'd highly recommend it.

I am a huge Leary fan anyway, and would probably watch him in anything, but i think it's the role he was born to play!!!

I am really enjoying this show. Leary is brilliant as a washed up druggie alcoholic ex rock star. The group therapy last week was brilliant.

The show's vibe kind of reminds me of Californication. I only wish that it was hour long episodes instead of half hour or 22 minutes actual running time.

I wouldn't mind hearing a soundtrack of the original songs

The last 5 episodes of the first season were released earlier. I think only one of them has aired on TV so am not sure where the other four came from.

Anyone else watching the new season at the moment?

I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed. Season 1 had a lot of momentum where they rejigged the band and started writing tunes, getting gigs and getting a few tracks recorded. This season it feels like they've slipped into regular sitcom land where they're staying permanently put without much seeming to happen. They're permanently based at a studio and I can't see why because they're not recording anything and studio time costs.

I know they probably want/need to prolong the series but it's in danger of getting stuck in that traditional sitcom rut that I hate. Admittedly traditional sitcoms don't have girl on girl action but it really feels like it's gone from being a show I loved to one that I'm just watching for the sake of it.

New week, new episode, nothing new. This show has been completely neutered. It's firmly in sitcom territory now and, worse, they've transitioned it from a show that poked some gentle fun at the music industry and bands into a show that spends it's entire runtime talking about sex. It feels more like an episode of Seinfeld with the neurotic details they go into. Ultimately none of it is really that interesting. I'm really disappointed. Last season was really good and very watchable. I really don't know what happened this time round. I'm curious to see if it will be renewed. I think I'll stick with it for the remainder of Season 2 but if it's renewed and Season 3 is more of the same then I'm out.

Not surprised. The season did improve but it all came just a little bit too late. I'm actually wondering if the show wasn't on some kind of warning anyway. I felt the budget was much reduced this season. There were only a couple of songs and they saved those til near the end. It felt like a much more ambitious show in Season 1. The sad thing is that the last few episodes were getting right back to the quality of Season 1 but if was all too little too late. I was a fan and nearly ditched mid season 2.
