Imported a car from UK this year and am curious as to how long the car has to be in the country before I can export it back again and claim a refund of the rebate??? I can't seem to get anything concrete from revenue or VRT section.
    thanks

Did you pay vrt on it when you brought it in?
I don't think there's a minimum time limit tbh but you forfeit €500 of the vrt value

I'm sure revenue will be happy to let you bring in and out cars all year if they are giving you 500 less than you paid.
If on the other hand you got the car in on an exemption, normal exemption rules would apply I would think

The car has to have a minimum OMSP of €2k also to qualify for VRT export refund.

thanks to you both for that info. VRT was indeed paid :) bought a manual but sorry i didn't wait for auto transmission hence slight remorse but don't know if I will be so impulsive to change within the year.
