Wetroom trap problem

I have a recently installed wetroom and have noticed the trap from the shower stinks. On closer inspection you can tell that as water is poured into it, the water level goes below the level its supposed to. Therefore the gases from the drain are free to escape. The cap in the trap creates the U in the U bend and the trap part looks complete. But something is drawing the water out of the trap. The plumber says its vented and can't explain why this is happening.

Anywhere I've read online, it explains that the venting is the problem. Is there anyway to prove this is the reason? Or can anyone suggest another reason for this.

    Thanks

Had problems with these shower traps. We basically fitted a tee where it comes out through the wall and fitted a trap between this and soil stack

All the pipes below ground are in a solid floor so can't see how the pipework can be altered. The amount of water in the trap is quite small so I guess they are susceptible to this issue compared to other types of traps.

We definitely need this fixed one way or another. Maybe there are better traps available. It would mean retiling a section if this trap was replaced :-(

Mcalpine have a trap which is about 8-10 inches deep which are about 60-70 euro and ave a good deep trap in them. But will be messy digging out for it and your waist pipe will need to be low enough for it

It's funny you should have this problem as the same thing started happening to me last week. My wet room was put in about 3 years ago but the problem is only happening now for some reason. If you come up with a solution for this I'm all ears..

Hi lads maybe a part missing while you were cleaning trap that was never put back or a rubber o ring split and gone unnoticed.

Latest - still waiting on plumber to track down a replacement trap to see if something is missing from what I have.

In the mean time, I took the cap off the trap and replaced it with the bottom of an empty plastic milk bottle. This was to make the amount of water required to reach the top of the outlet hole way more than with the provided cap. Since doing this, the trap is working well. Any mild suction from the drain was sucking the water out of the trap but now with wider manmade cap (milk bottle) the mild suction isn't enough to draw the water up to the top of the U (bend). So the seal remains intact.
