Replacing Floorboards

We had some work done on our heating system which involved taking up floorboards in the bedrooms. The boards are in a bit of a state now, uneven and cracked. We want to lay laminate in the rooms now, would I need to get these boards replaced if they are uneven? Or could we put down plywood instead over them?

Putting plywood over the boards will mean your hall floor will be at a different level. You could do it but you'd be better off taking the old ones up first.

would you not consider putting in new floorboards?

    sanding down and staining?

we had laminate in the bedroom and hated it and went back to floor boards, its such a much nicer place to be

Oh yeah good point, hopefully it won't be a costly job. Some of them are a right state.
