A good D lock or a big hex chain?

Just wondering what people prefer to use to lock their pride and joy with? I have a sold secure gold D lock however I'm thinking a big 12 or 13mm hex chain would be a better option since it's more flexible to get it around objects etc.. The D lock is limited in a sense I can't lock my bike to say a lampost when needed to…

I'd use the D lock along with the chain obviously as its a decent one. The onus being carrying around additional weight in my back pack everyday.

I think the best advice is to use both. A thief will need 2 different tools to get through both of them.
