Advice for fixing an underfloor leak

    Hi,

We recently changed the vinyl floor covering in our kitchen, and in a short time the new flooring started to warp. When we pulled up the covering, we found there were a few damp patches under the vinyl. The heating system is (very slowly) loosing pressure so we suspect now that there is a small leak in the heating system pipes, somewhere under the concrete floor.

I love to know from anyone with a similar experience, and how you got it sorted? Or if you could recommend someone in the cork city area who might be able to sort this out.

    All the best,
    Frank.

PS we have tried a few specialist leak detection companies in the area but it seems that the leak is too small to be detected using the high-tec tools they typically use (e.g acoustic/infrared tools)

If this guys didn't find leak now you have to take kango and open floor there where you had wet patches, fix leak and done.

Is it "underfloor heating" or just a pipe to radiators under the screed?. If underfloor heating then there should be no joints to leak. If piping to radiators I dread to think what is going on as joints are very common but need to know first.

    Hi
Some of the specialist leak detectors use a Gas to find the leak as the gas is light it is able to penetrate through the concrete and up into the room showing exactly where the leak is.
You can also buy an additive which you put into your heating system and stop the leak.

    Be warned
I have seen this situation before with solid timber flooring warping and there was no leak under the floor.
The ground had damp patches under the flooring but apparently the timber was sweating and after 1-2 months it started to warp
The flooring was glued down originally but in 1 particular area it needed to be removed and when it was refitted it wasn't glued down as it was only a small area
Every few months it warped and had to be replaced.

    Worth thinking about
    Cc
