....with the banks offering so many solutions to those who are in 'difficulty' paying their home mortgages, including investment properties, also the chance of personal debt and residual mortgage debt being written off? Are other European countries banks this generous?

Only sensible and responsible people don't allow themselves to get into debt.

It's a greater country to be debt free in.

    I love being debt free.

It does seem to be very, very difficult for a bank to evict someone who falls behind on their mortgage.

I don't know as I never was in debt and always paid my mortgage, when I had one, either in full or in excess of the needed amount.

bet the borrowers don't tell their friends about defaulting or debts being written off...

though they would be boasting about spending on gadgets, holidays, cars, property etc...

I dunno - I knew plenty of people who brag and boast whenever they find a way to 'beat the system'

Well, we take our cues from the Big Boys, and they all walked off scott free. So why not everyone else? Would it not be double standards otherwise. Lol.

Is there anything like Stubbs Gazette for people who default/fall behind on loan repayments?
I would guess some people have the money but are hoping for a write-off. Perhaps some publicity would encourage them to pay their dues?

Yes, because you always see Sean d. etc in stubbs. Or that they give a shyte. No-one reads it except for the laugh anyway.

People who owe the banks could pay back what they owed when they borrowed x amount euros, then some ****esr screwed up the country, people lost their jobs had their wages cut paid more tax........etc .... They didn't see it coming!.... we bailed out the bankers now it's time for the "little" people to be bailed out.

Under the DUP SF coalition in the North reposessions of houses are a multiple of 8 to 11 times what they are in this country depending on how you do the numbers. Also under that administration you can have your house reposessed and be declared bankrupt if you do not pay your property tax.

Why did so many go to the UK to go bankrupt if it was better here to do so.

Your credit rating will be effected by any help from the bank.

I have always paid my mortgage.

This is the important point if it is so easy why isn't hasn't every one stopped paying theri mortgage????.
