07 Corolla key fob

I have a 07 corolla with only one key fob and a normal key. I bought one from ebay and one from adverts from broken cars. one is a denso 1512t and one is a denso 1512v. I have tried to program both of them with a method i found on the internet:

key out door open, key in twice, close and open the door twice, key in once, close and open the door twice, key in, close the door, ignition on then off and take the key out, locks open then close.

At this point i have tried holding the open and close on the new fob then tried to lock, tried holding them for different periods of time, tried just pressing one button at a time.

Am I doing something wrong? will a denso 1512v work in the same place as a denso 1512t?

The sellers are adamant that they work so i dont want to raise an issue until i have to.

Thanks to anyone that can help.
