Applying for jobs in apple

    Hi Guys..
I won't give my location or company name, but I work with a company that repairs computers for apple(an authorised service provider)
I have unbelievable experience and qualifications and I have had over 12 interviews with apple about 8 different jobs in total.
With my high level of expertise in apple services and products I thought I'd have a job there by now I've applied for way more jobs but since my last interview I haven't had any bits.
One of the hiring managers did give me feed back on my overall performance during the interviews and it was all positive(he called me off the record)
, I have several friends in apple who are all stunned that I haven't gotten a job yet.
We(my friends and I) think that my company(who has close connections with apple) have told apple not to hire me as I would be a loss to the company and affecting apples customers etc, I have no proof of this but I'm fairly certain that's how it is.
Does anyone have any input into this situation, any ideas or feedback or maybe you know someone in higher management in apple that could shed a bit of light. I'm desperate to get out of this company, and right now apple is my best bet for a career when looking at my cv and apple certifications etc

Assuming you're in the Republic, what jobs are you applying for that you feel that you're so qualified for?

They don't repair anything in the EU HQ in Cork.

Call center operations, sps, tsps, tier 3 enterprise support, tier 2 technical support, technical support advisor and one more I can't remember. I have over 5 years experience, repaired/diagnosed 1000's of mac products, over three years managerial position, have 6 apple certifications which cost me a lot of money, over 3 years on phone support a proven track record, my experience goes on. I have been offered jobs elsewhere apart from apple but they just were not that appealing. I have even asked the hiring managers for feedback on my interviews and they said it was flawless but wouldn't give me a reason why I didn't get the job.
Also note if I leave my current employer it could leave them vulnerable in a certain area for a short term, until they bring in someone..

I'm more than qualified, I know the ins and outs of the company, my last job interview with apple they said I was the type of material they need, my employer does have ties with apple and that's why I feel I'm being career sabotaged

You're trying to hard, and coming across as desperate.

It sounds like they don't like your attitude. It seems you have the experience. It could be why they won't explain themselves. Have you done some research into how to conduct yourself at interviews. I read a good pdf about his to answer hard interview questions. Google it.

That all sounds great, but what was your response to the obligatory "Explain iCloud to a 4 year old" question?

Apple look for a certain type of person. They don't really overly concern themselves about technical knowledge, its more about how you can talk to people about certain things. They can teach people the techy stuff, but it's not easy to teach people how to converse and explain concepts in an expressive an easy to understand way.

Dial down the "I've been there, done that and know it all" stance and channel it into personable, relevant examples where you've spoken the customers language.

I'm my own worst critic. And I'm not trying to rush things with apple, I know I done well in my interviews, I'm trying to be as humble as possible, but the main fact here is that fear my current employer is stopping me from getting a position as apple would probably have to get their permission before the let me go, at the end of te day our business works for apple..! So what can be done or what would you suggest if my employer is preventing me from getting a job with apple. I don't want to quit my job to get a job in apple if this is the case.. I was hoping maybe someone could shed light if this is possible or if they have contacts in apple that they could ask for me

About me, I have years of training customers, home call outs business call outs and setups, over 5 years in sales and after sales. I engage with customers very well and can bring my explanations in IT down to their understanding which is the key. My cv and my interviews really don't seem to be the problem from what I can see, any bit of help on this employer thing would be greatly appreciated

Your first quote contradicts the second.

If you are that confident, go ahead, line up an "in the meantime" job, then apply to apple.

If you do get the job, you'll answer the question of your employers influence once and for all.

If you don't perhaps you need to eat a little more humble pie

Or perhaps Apple think you are overqualified for a life on the phones?

Ever consider that? Apple et al like to mould in their own likeness, you sound pretty much gone beyond that.

If you are serious about IT, maybe consider a move away from micky mouse apple support and repairs, and get certified enterprise IT, server admin, etc, lots of work there
    😀

I'm not over qualified. There's way more than phone support and that is one of the channels there that I least want, SPs, tsps, CCO are some of the departments where I would be well suited for.

I really think given your posts that you've a bit of a sense of self entitlement to one of these roles, and tbh if you feel that strongly and if your current employment is preventing that, you've no chance but to leave your current job.

I'd a slightly different experience to you, I'd loads of experience and exposed to a lot of people who retrospectively asked why I didn't tell them I was job hunting due to what I felt to be professional ethics, and got headhunted by the first crew who expected I was.

I seriously wonder if you are over egging how good you are.

The role/s you describe are pretty basic tbh.

I have been working in and around the Apple related reseller channel (not for apple) for nearly 15 years and I can be almost 100% positive that your current employer would have Zero influence over apple's direct hiring .. if Apple wanted you they would offer you a job. I would also be 100% certain that your current employer wouldn't even know who to contact to 'sabotage' your job application. The apple reseller channel and Apple direct are like two totally different organisations .. plus Apple always look out for Apple.
