City car for < 6k

Hello,
I'm looking for my second car. I currently drive a 01 1.4L Skoda Fabia which is getting on a bit and I'm looking for a change.
I don't know that much about cars but from looking at other threads here I guess that I would need a similar enough engine to the 1.4L petrol that I have already as I do mostly city driving, with the odd weekend heading down the country. Cars that I've began looking at already (again, don't know that much about cars so this is mostly anecdotal/personal preference) are the Ford focus and the Mazda 3. I'd prefer to buy from a dealer for peace of mind. I have about 6k to spend.

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Just an example above. They are very reliable, decent spec and the 1.4 litre engine is one of the liveliest in it's class.

Bog standard Terra model too, I'd rather drop back to a 2006 Luna model if going down the Corolla route.

They share the same chassis but use different engines(except diesel engine).

Mazda has a lower seating position than focus I guess.

I heard mazda 1.4 engine feels faster than focus' 1.4 engine.

I think 1.6 lt engines suits better to both car weight wise on motorway.

It is much more of a preference after you test both and finding a good example.

Corolla hatch, Fiesta, Clio etc.

Basically the same.
