I've done a couple of weekends out there - camped on Beginish and on the big island which are really the only options. Check out Dave Walsh's guide for more info

Thanks tphase... will depend on weather and tide.

This also gives a good breakdown.

weather will determine IF you go, tide will determine WHEN you go :)
Indeed but dig into the text where you'll find useful info on launching points, tide timings etc.
Next week looks like it will be good so I'd say go for it. Last time I was there we got to Tearacht which is spectacular -conditions were pretty flat but still a 2-3m swell so we didn't land which was a pity as Irish Lights were doing work so a tour was on the cards. A couple of the lads took off at 6am on day 2 from Beginish and got to (and landed on) the Foze Rocks - that's a good spin out but too much like hard work for me!

thanks folks - the first Island looks manageable enough. From a tidal point of view are you looking at putting on couple of hours before slack tide?

How Bizzare. I was just out there two days ago albeit, we took the ferry. I'd love to paddle them. The rips looked savage though.
