Vw golf high pitched noise

Have a 2006 1.4 golf ....was driving it today and got this high pitched noise coming from around the drivers side of the car engine. turned the engine on and off and it stopped the noise for a bit but noticed it again on the drive home ....it didnt get any louder or quieter when accelerating or at idle ......Im guessing…

Have a 2006 1.4 golf ....was driving it today and got this high pitched noise coming from around the drivers side of the car engine. turned the engine on and off and it stopped the noise for a bit but noticed it again on the drive home ....it didnt get any louder or quieter when accelerating or at idle ......Im guessing water pump ?
