    Problem is who will build out the Hydrogen Infrastructure?

    Would be ideal for our wind farms to create hydrogen though.... self sufficient for our own fuel.

    After the infrastructure is installed....where does the Hydrogen come from. Producing it from water takes a lot of energy.

    By electrolysis it would be a big ask alright, I remember reading years ago about producing hydrogen biologically from algae. Don't know if anything came of it.

    Electrolysis. Think of Hydrogen as another form of Battery - it's energy storage. When electricity grid demand is low and Wind (or other renewable) Production is high you create Hydrogen. It therefore allows us balance out grid demand. In fact, you could use the Hydrogen to create electricity though that would be relatively inefficient.

    The only benefit to Hydrogen is that it is quick to refuel (three minutes instead of a couple of hours for a battery). I'd query whether this is such a problem on a small Island like Ireland where battery will be able to take you coast to coast soon enough. Makes much more sense in the vastness of the US or the continent.

    Toyota have lost the plot, hydrogen will never power cars, it's massively inefficient process to produce hydrogen and it's much more efficient to use that energy to charge batteries.

    When Tesla's Gigafactory comes on line it could make batteries a lot cheaper.

    Most People don't need 700 km range and I bet most people would be happy with Tesla's super charger infrastructure.

    A lot of people don't understand that hydrogen cars are electric !

    Hydrogen will be a lot more expensive than electricity so on that basis alone I hope hydrogen never succeeds.

    Just like batteries, fuel cells have a limited life.

    Agreed,one only has to view "Who killed the electric car" to see why it suits the ICE folk to "Pedal" the Hydrogen myth,ie,"Coming soon" In the meantime use oil.My car doesn't take two hours to charge,around 40 mins.(AC) Nikola Tesla might agree?

    A/C is handy but DC is the future, once you're up to 130 kw such as the tesla super chargers then it's got to be DC.

    No I don't think fast chargers cost anything as much these days.

    As more KWh is stuffed in cars it will take longer to charge so the need for much faster charging will be greater.

    I'm all for having A/C too and currently Zoe has the best on board charger of any production ev but this is fine for a 20 kWh battery and to be honest probably fine for a model S in most cases but for faster travel on a long trip DC will be king.

    Agreed,but where do you stop?I just sold an ICE car that had only 3 moving parts in the engine,It originally cost someone £27k,and I got £1k for it. Very fast ,very heavy . See you made me put myself off topic!
