Window restrictors on windows

Does anyone know what the regulations on windows in connection with restrictors. I am going to be renting out our house and my friend said I should get restrictors fitted as it was the law . I cannot find anything online exactly about this and am unsure as what I should do .any advise please .

It all depends on how old the building AND the Windows are.
