This was done not so long since but either Deenihan or Doyle. The grapevine has it that Deenihan is going to be demoted altogether. The other name mentioned is that of chief whip Paul Kehoe.

Wednesday will be a big day for hill farmers, if that goes wrong I'd prefer an election to a reshuffle. I've lost my patience with this crowd.

Andrew Doyle? from Wicklow is a strong contender. I met him a good while back and he impressed with his grasp of a few issues.

I think there will be a good few younger TDs getting promoted to the front bench and junior ministries befoe an election in a years time.

Doyle is a farmer is he not, what type of farming is he involved in?

It is only a matter of time before the government collapses, hopefully we get someone who does the least damage possible.

edit to add, didn't mean to have a thumbs down symbol with my post...

For vulnerable sectors it matters. How a minister approaches the job, how they are in relation to submissions made etc. can have a big effect.

Can't fully remember but Bruton may be for the chop also. Joan is odds on for his current job.

Reshuffle promised before end of session. That's 17nt July.
Next two weeks probably. New Labour leader to be elected 5th July, then Joan will fire Costello and send Alex White to Health, Reilly will prob. get Foreign affairs.

If Doyle gets Ag. and he would be good, I think, hope his health holds up.

I think there will be a major reshuffle. I think there is a move to shift Gilmore to Europe instead of Hogan wheather it happens or not is a good question. I think Quinn and Rabbitte will be gone if Gilmore fails to get the EU Commissioner. If I was Labour I keep away from health nothing to win in Angola.

I think Reilly and Denihan will be shafted especially if Hogan fails to get the EU job. A surprise might be Micheal Noonan as it is hard to see him standing in next Election. The other surprise might be Sean Barrett he is seventy years of age with an automatic seat next time. Hogan or Gilemore Ceann Comhairle and the other the Eu Comissioner.

Agriculture Charles Flanagan would be a good bet, Enda need a few good TV preformers coming up to the Election, sen Covney to health to end his Leadership credentials but it might be too dangerous, he is one of the most unpopular Ag ministers for a long time with farmers, looks good to the urban folk but lacked the ability to handle what was an easy portfolio.

i think anyone would be an improvement to Coveney. to give him credit he perhaps handled the horse meat scandal well but apart from that I think he has been a disaster.

The Bilderberg Group don't seem to think so

If Coveney is moved on, it would be very important that his replacement is as dynamic as he has been in terms of building the profile of agriculture. It would be a disaster if we got some old school boring TD that was only there for the pension!

Hopefully Coveney will appoint a beef regulator as his last act in office!!!

Reshuffle was supposed to be yesterday, then today, now maybe Friday. But we are all to be reassured there is NO rows going on in Govt.

:D<MOD Snip> Simon might get to finish out the 5 years in Ag at this rate.

He's alright, no one's going to be any better, and he does give a good image for farming/farmers.
Anyone that thinks that the senior civil servants aren't running the country aren't in the real world.....

Lamb price drops 25%+ every year, if it was easy to control markets, he could get lots of experience controlling them there
