    Hi,

I am new to this but recently noticed lads talking about not going over their N quota. I have a small farm 14ha and am lightly stocked.

How much stock could I keep before I become overstocked? Also how much fert am I allowed to spread per year and how is this monitored? Anything else I need to watch for? I don't winter any cattle. Just weanlings to stores from March to October.

    Thanks.

Nitrates really only comes into play when you exceed 170Kgof organic N/HA. It is unlikley if you have a low stocking that you would be spreading too much artifical fertlizer to it be an issue unless you were importing a lot of slurry.

Spreading no slurry at all. Got soil samples done and very low in P and K so was going to spread a few ton of that as was thinking if reseeding some ground.

Sold some silage so put roughly 4 ton 18.6.12 out. Hopefully still under limits so.

That is equivlent to 2.25bags/acre should be no issue especially as P&K are low
