Can anyone give me an idea of a good 1/10 chassis. I want to be able to swop over various rally style bodies but know nothing about it. Is it a case where bodies need a certain chassis, or will one chassis fit most bodies, kind of a universal type of thing.

I make 1/18 Irish rally diescast models, but looking for a bit of fun in RCs with custom Irish liverys.

Are you going nitro or electric as they tend to use different body sizes (200mm for Nitro vs 190mm for electric) remember with nitro too your going to have to cut holes for airflow might mess up the look if your into aesthetics.

Not sure what im after to be honest. Maybe electric but the RC I had in the past, the batterys took 8 hours to charge and had 20mins of run time. Nitro might suit better but getting fuel would be a pain. How do modern electrics compare for performance v nitro

modern electrics are a different ball game to what they used to be.
Use the right set up and you can get long run times and modern Lipo batteries charge in an hour or less.
Have a look at something like the Tamiya TT-02 chassis. You can put a heap of different rally bodies on it and parts are easily found.

Heres some stuff about the basics, its aimed at off road buggies, but the same applies.
