Dunno if anyone was watchin the Ricky Burns fight last nite. Sky commentators I thought were going on about all of Rickys problems but sure they have been on show for the last 3 fight now.
Feel sorry for the guy cos I like him.

Looking forward to the Gamboa Crawford fight tonite

Really buzzing for Gamboa as he's such an entertaining and overall a very talented boxer...I'd be surprised if he didn't win if I'm truly honest

I'm finding myself going back and forth with this match. I think it's a fantastic matchup. Will Crawford be too big, will Gamboa be too fast, does Crawford have enough pop to take advantage of Gamboa's defensive errors, will Gamboa box 'conservatively' or really go for it. There are just so many scenarios.

Some other poster on this forum once said they thought Gamboa was a spectacular KO waiting to happen and I have to say I agreed. However, since then he seems to have been less gung-ho, though he hasn't exactly been active either. He has been down from some ordinary punchers (and boxers) which led me to think if he met a skilful boxer with a good punch he could end up being KO'd - Mikey Garcia was exactly the type I had in mind and Crawford just might be something similar, though not as hard punching.

I think Crawford's beard is good enough to take whatever comes his way and maybe his size advantage and cuteness will be good enough to take a close UD, but there's not a chance of me putting money on this one.

Well for anyone that missed it here's a replay on the link below without the hbo commentary

Some size difference. I thought Crawford got caught a couple of times but Gamboa got beaten up in the second half of the fight.

Well, that was impressive from Crawford. I guess the defensive frailties I mentioned that have always been evident in Gamboa's game finally came back to haunt him. He just squares up so much on his third and fourth punches with his chin up in the air that someone as classy as Crawford was always going to take advantage.

The result makes Crawford look a bigger puncher than he really is, he was just skilful enough to take advantage of Gamboa's mistakes. Gamboa's willingness to try to fight back even when hurt lessened his chances even more. No holding or trying to survive there, which made it a great spectacle but really played into Crawford's hands.

Crawford seems a pretty classy guy too, I think he could become one of the bigger names in the US in the next few years.

Crawford was superb. What a boxer/puncher. Really impressed by him. He reminds me of a young Hearns. Great switch hitter. Seems fluid and sycned off both wings. Gamboa relies too much on natural talent and traits. Like many others, he is lacking real fighting smarts!

I think other than facially and the way he speaks he's nothing like Hearns at all. The commentator mentioned that too and to be honest I was scratching my head. He's not a big puncher at all (Gamboa's recklessness combined with Crawford's timing created good-looking knockdowns) so when you compare him to one of the hardest hitters ever, I'm afraid I don't know what to say.

Well it's me and the commentator against you.:P

I should have been a bit more specific. It's his stance and delivery of punches that reminds me of Hearns. He is also a terrific switch hitter, not that Hearns was. Good puncher. Nothing great, but heavy enough. He also can let fly in an instant. Not at all gun shy, another trait that reminds me of a young Hearns.
