I have a 06 1.9 tdi passat. Yesterday the parking break light, airbag light and traction control light came on. I took it to the vw garage and they said there 3 different faults and none of them are connected! They said i need 2 new rear calipers, clutch pedal switch and an airbag sensor under the passenger seat. I got the airbag sensor they had none of the rest in stock. I was told not to use the handbrake until it gets fixed because it could get stuck, all the warning lights were turned off and none have come back on.I just find it a bit strange that all these lights came on at the one time and they are saying its not connected. This is costing nearly a grand to fix so i just wanted to see if its happened to anyone but have been told a different answer?

Should be worth getting a second opinion if possible. George Dalton is not too far from Carlow.

It's quite possible the car has several different problems, unconnected to each other. Get some second opinions from local garages and go from there.

I done 200 miles today and the car seems fine no lights on the dash or anything. I am finding it hard to pay that much money if there is no need. I think i will get it checked again.

    Get a second opinion.

Parking brake button gives trouble as thats where the module is located. Possible fault, and that would throw numerous abs,eps warning lights. Around 25€ for a new switch from dealers.
Rear callipers can be checked individually and see if the motors are working, but then again rear callipers wiring harness is prone to corrosion and that could also throw a same fault.

As above get someone else to check it for you,as its very common for dealers to blow things out of proportion and change more parts then needed just to extract more money out of you!

Yeah going to get it checked again off someone else. Seen as the breaks hasnt been fixed i thought the light would have come back on by now.

The code its showing is 02430. The lad i took it too said he he can change the pads and that will fix it. Does anyone know if that sounds right.

It's "2430 - Left Parking Brake Motor (V282) Resistance to Movement"

Seems to be a known issue. You can approach a dealer and see what they charge to fix it, then shop around.
