Steam Summer Sale - Should I purchase ArmA II / DayZ

Was having a look through Steam to see what games were on the Summer Sale and I noticed that ArmA II: Combined Op. is only €10 (Which I believe is required for the DayZ Mod?), only noticing then on the Steam website that ArmA II: Complete Collection is €15.

I mainly want to buy ArmA just for the DayZ Mod, but not sure which of the two would be more beneficial? Will more objects be added with the Complete Collection and worth the extra €5?

Also, would it run with an i5 4670 and MSi GTX 750 Ti smoothly? Thank you.

I've got it already but if I wanted to play DayZ I'd just buy the DayZ standalone game. It's buggy right now but you're probably better off in the long run.

    Easily.

Your PC should run it fine. The mod is currently far better than the standalone which is a buggy mess and is lacking content as its only in the alpha stage of development. There are many versions of the mod now and the more popular ones such as Dayz Epoch are quite well polished at this stage and a lot of fun. If you go with the mod make sure you download Dayz Commander, it makes everything a lot easier.

Id agree with madyaker,go with the mod for now and then if you like it can take a look at standalone and see if you want it. Arma 2 Combined Operations(Arma 2+ Operation Arrowhead expansion) is what you need for the mod,if it gets a discount it should be about €5.

+1 for Dayz commander as well, streamlines everything nicely

Cheers guys for the replies . I'll purchase ArmA II Combined when the offer is still on and download DayZ + DayZ Commander.

When I do get it, is there any Irish clan that is joinable? I'm looking into purchasing a headset (Anyone recommended a pair around €40 - €50?) soon so I can be talking to people via online games. Cheers.

No need to download the mod on Steam, you install the mods through dayz commander and run them from there. Theres a tab at the top of dayz commander that says "install/update",click that and it will give you a list of the different mods. Hit the "install" button beside the ones you want and wait for them to install. Use dayz commander server browser then to connect to a sever and enjoy:)

Plantronics and Astro do decent headsets in that price range iirc. Pick a model and search for a few reviews . Check out the plantronics gamecom 780's,good place to start.

Gaellords is an irish gaming clan that host a few servers, usually at least one dayz server up most of the time. Their website is :www.gaellords.com

One thing I will add about the mod these days is its much easier and more forgiving if you're playing as part of a squad, especially if you're a new player.

Cheers, I was looking at some reviews of them Plantronics 780's Headset and they seem to be the perfect pair for the price. May look at some more reviews before purchasing and the other brand that you mentioned.

FYI, ArmA II: Complete Collection was down from €15:99 to €5:99 for the last day of the Summer Sale. Thank God I got distracted for a BBQ or I wouldn't have saved €10. :)

EDIT: I barely know anyone in my area who has another gaming PC, so hopefully joining an Irish squad will be beneficial to meet more Irish players.
