    Hi

Have a Merc CLK, 05 reg . Has full Merc service history from day 1. I bought recently.

Should I continue service with main dealer or will an 'ordinary' mechanic do ?

    CAL

If there is an indie nearby who knows his way around mercs and is reasonable then it's a no brainer. Hardly any point in paying main dealer prices for a nine year old car. Fair play to the previous owner, that kind of maintenance is rare enough in this country.

Very little value in bringing a 9 year old car to a main dealer to be serviced. Even the argument that a full service history is worth something in goodwill from the manufacturer is very unlikely on a car of that age.

A proper MB specialist is worth more than a main dealer when maintaining and documenting the servicing for a older MB....IMO.

There are a few around Dublin, and not being a main dealer doesn't mean it's cheaper.
