audi a5 coupe s line/sport or bmw 3series coupe m sport?

Hey guys, what are your views on the both cars? Which is better on all areas? Both cars are year 2009- 2011.

Petrol or diesel?

3 Series being rear wheel drive would be more a driver's car especially if the A5 is not a Quattro. A5 would be a more modern design with more room and doesn't suffer the same expensive timing chain issues that the BMW diesel would suffer from.

Have you driven either?

Diesel. No I haven't drove any of the two yet. But have to look online any of the cars nearest to my area. Think there is a 3series m sport in cork so maybe I go check it out there but I have to look for the audi. Just decide from the two. They are both beautiful car.

Not really. My options is open.

My advice would be not to touch a BMW 2.0 diesel of that age unless there is documented proof that the timing chain has been replaced already. Or better still look for a 325d or 330d, the M57 engine doesn't suffer the same issues.

Also if coming from a RX-8 you may find the drive and steering of the A5 a bit on the numb side. A Merc CLK might be worth looking at too.

Engines built from late 2007 to about mid 2011. It's a lottery with them really.
