I've been developing an Application for the last two weeks and I'm going to add the final touches soon. I'm just wondering is there a packaging tool I could use as an installer, that would also set up a few file folders in a users home directory? If a packaging tool won't create folders, then I can develop a script that would do so upon installation.

did you look at the .deb & .rpm packaging? depending on the variant of linux you use one of those seems like the best approach.
