Note: There is a new version of Moto G with SD card slot and 4G now available.

I've been looking for the 16GB version of the original recently hoping that the new version would push the price of the old version down.

The cheapest I've found so far is from Tesco UK.

It's £129.99 or £119.99 with a £10 new customer discount code [TDX-PRKW], though it's locked to Tesco Mobile. Costs €3.5 to send via Parcel Motel and about £2 to get an unlock code from ebay.

    Altogether that's about €155.

Never heard of eglobalcentral before, don't see anything obviously dodgy about the site, but who knows. The version they have of the phone is dual SIM and is unlocked so €159 is a very good price.

Excerpt from their Terms and Conditions. I certainly wouldnt be ordering from them.

Worse, they ship from Hong Kong and the price you pay doesn't include VAT, so if it gets checked by customs you have to pay an extra €35.42.

Chances are it won't get stopped, but there's a risk that it will.

Also they don't have good after sales support: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057220550

Edit: Was replying to your first post, Beano

Thanks for the reply. Husband had already gone ahead and ordered it and it has shipped from Hong Kong, I will let you know the progress. He seems happy that he has paid through paypal and that if it not what he ordered he an cancel the payment.
I will keep mt fingers crossed re. vat etc., Its being sent by DHL which is probably bad as I have had them looking for duties before on deliveries where it was already paid in advance.

Yes, eglobalcentral are not a retailer you should buy from. The phone I bought off them had no sort of factory seal even though it was advertised as new. You have no consumer protection whatsoever as they ship from outside the EU, so you aren't protected by EU law if something goes wrong. If you have to send your phone for repairs, you have to send the phone back to them as the warranty won't be valid in the EU region.

They took AGES reply to any of the emails I sent them and I definitely felt like they were trying to let the paypal protection window expire. You are protected by paypal yes, but if you have to file a claim, you have to return the phone through private courier (costing 50 - 60Eur) as PP require proof of delivery.

I'm 50 eur out of pocket now thanks to this crowd. They flat out refused to pay the return shipping costs.

What sort of delivery did you use? 50 euro delivery for a phone?

Why didnt you use An-post registered mail?

anpost won't touch devices with batteries in them. Even if I lied about the contents of the package, the service doesn't provide accurate tracking info (according to customer rep) so I would not have any proof of delivery to supply to Paypal.

Just to keep anyone interested up to date the phone arrived by DHL via Hong Kong, Germany, England, Cork in 5 days from the initial order. It seems like the genuine article, came completely sealed in box and it also came with motorola branded headphones (better quality than my samsung ones) and a branded motorola charger. I have it set up and so far so good its going fine. I have also compared it with a friends and there is no difference. There was no extra charge from customs either.
    So far so good.

    Hi

I'm looking to get the tescomobile moto g 16GB from tescodirect.com.
(Hoping to go that route, with unlock from ebay, an delivered by Parcelmotel)
Looks like it's rarely if ever available however..Any others who have bought from tescodirect..Did you face a long wait before it came into stock on their website??

Disappointing that theres no stock alert facility on their website either, I just have it added to a wishlist, which doesn't really do anything

New Moto G from Tesco for £129.99.

I bought the "old" 16GB model before this, but no regrets — 16GB is enough for my needs and I don't have 4G.

I fancy the 16GB model, as 4G is not something I'd want, or use really.
