I have to say while I've had a few run ins with Dublin bus drivers they are as a rule the absolute best, as in most respectful and considerate heavy vehicle drivers out there.

Naturally. I bet they paid extra for the bit that says "Even though there are horrible bus drivers..." while linking to some of the worst publicity they've had in a while. There's a whole counter-intuitive marketing genius thang going on right there.

Nice. Given the circumstances, I'm sure that was strangely
    pleasant

Ah the aul cheap cynicism inevitably kicks in. The cyclist in question is my sister who has precisely zero affiliation with DB and probably hasn't used public transport in years.

I think there was more than a trace of sarcasm in Dermot's post ;)

Yeap, a positive article in the Journo..

which was then countered by this: http://jrnl.ie/1541122

Completely agree. Fantastic drivers, that all too often get dragged through the mud.

There's an ESB van/truck depot thing near where I live. I've found them noticeably polite and careful on the roads towards us on our school run cycle. Don't know if they do extra training, but whatever it is, it's working.

    Anyone else experienced this?

(I don't have any affiliation with ESB, but I thought I'd add to the good news vibe).

that all too often get dragged through the mud.

The driver of the said vehicle doing the dragging is often one of their colleagues.
