Due to start a new job shortly and on my letter they say to bring my p45 on the first day. I can't find it anywhere now, but I'm wondering if this is essential if I haven't work yet this year?
My husband has been using my tex credits anyway, but my last work was the end of last year.

Your P45 from last year is irrelevant as its now a completely different tax year. Provide Revenue with your new employer's PAYE registered number, the date started and how often paid. Revenue will issue a tax credit cert to the employer to allow them to tax you correctly.

Give them your PPS number, that's all they'd use from it. Again as advised above get your Employers Reg number and give it to the tax office. You will be issued with a new tax cert

    Perfect, thank you both.
Won't bother continuing the scouring of the house for it so!

    Get your employers registration number.

Have your PPS number on hand.

Ring revenue, give them the details.

They'll send a tax credits certificate out to you or the HR department in your new company. This will get you off emergency tax if you're on it.
