Planning permission

Just a quick question someone might be able to help me with.

I want to change my front garden which at present is coble lock with a grass area, I want to remove the grass area and relay the whole drive and grass area with tarmac and widen my gate to allow 2 cars park in the driveway.

Do I need planning permission for this? Most houses on my road have done this already, never seen any sign up for planning permission but that means nothing. Looked on the Citizen advice page here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/planning_permission/planning_perm_altering_a_house.html

It say you don't need planning permission for - Car parking spaces, garden paths etc

    Any advice would be great!

suspect you'd need permission from the council to widen the gate if it involves driving over the footpath

Ring up the planning department of your local CoCo and ask. It will take 2 minutes. In certain areas (like where I live) you definitely need planning permission. They are old houses and the railings etc are protected structures. Newer builds, I don't know.

Thanks for this advice, just rang them..

I need permission to widen the gate but not to cover the driveway.

    Thanks in again!
