im a bit new to welding and have two questions

question 1- I have welded a bead and run out of stick and put on a new stick but there is only about a centimetre left to weld- should you start welding on the old weld or weld at the other side and join up to the weld just done?

question 2- I was welding two pieces of 3mm box iron at a 90 degree angle. it burned through at one point. what was the cause? I was using 3.2mm rods at 115 amps. its an oxford welder so the choices are either 90 amps or 115amps. should I be on the 90 amps or 115 amps for this type job?

Q1. Shouldn't matter unless you are worried about distortion. Clean the slag off first.
Q2. Use a smaller rod.2.5mm or so. Box iron, when it heats blow through easily. Welding corners is always trickier.
