Roasting your own with a popcorn maker?

    I just spotted that Lidl have a popcorn maker for €12.99 from Monday. Has anybody used one to roast their own beans? Good results?

    Good reading there Doodee, thanks. So follow on questions now for people who were / are doing that for a while -

    1) Was it worth it (the hassle)? Is the taste that much better than anything else?
    2) And what are the economics? How much cheaper, if any, are the green beans?
    3) How easy is it to store green beans and how long do they keep?

    1. Was worth it for me. It was the first step to confirming I was interested enough before investing in a home coffee roaster
    2. Don't be fooled into thinking there is a major economic benefit. Sure if you are happy drinking everything you roast it's probably cheaper but I still have roasts that end up in the bin.
    3. Green beans are easily stored. I have green beans I'm still roasting from last year's crop - Though at a recent cupping session I was advised I'd be better getting through the older stock of green quicker as it dries out.
