    Heya lads,

    4 years ago I was arrested. Basically I drove into my uncles estate, I was there for 10 minutes and proceeded to reverse out. When all of a sudden my path was blocked by a garda car. 2 guards jumped out took my car keys off me and pulled me out of my car.

    They quickly arrested me and told me they got a call saying a car in that estate had been broken into and basically blamed me for it. I was innocent and explained to them I was on my own and didnt even have any tools or reason to break into the car.

    They took me back to the station, took my photo, prints and left me in a cell for 2 hours. They went through my car and found nothing incriminating. Immediately as I was released the guard told me there would be no further action. (no evidence more likely)

    Heres the thing. I requested my information from pulse and the arrest never appeared on there, I was vetted and it never appeared there either.. I was wondering how could I retrieve the details? I thought it would have been on pulse but it appears not..


    Any advice would be appreciated guys..

    I was about to ask the same question. I'm applying for a job with the UK police but I don't know what records the guards have on me. I got in a spot of bother a couple of times as a youth.

    I heard it mentioned that you can apply through the freedom of information for this info.

    exactly in your position. I want to apply for garda in the future or maybe even uk police if circumstances change.

    I want to know what date I was arrested and what details they kept.. It's my right but I can't find the record of it..

    I was wondering if they even bothered to keep the details considering they immediately decided no charges would follow. typical Ireland the most simple thing is the most difficult..

    If you were exonerated it should not be an issue.

    However if you don't apply well then you won't get in.

    You can't change the fact you were arrested so proceed as it is.

    The Gardaí have a new policy for vetting. Not all arrests and prosecutions are now shown during vetting. There would be a record of your arrest somewhere on the system though, especially if you were fingerprinted. did you make a request under the Data Protection Act?

    That's good news however I think seven years is still a bit steep. Where did they get that figure from?
    Similar legislation in the UK has only 3 years as a requirement.

    yes I made that request and asked for ALL DATA HELD.

    I received details of a few searches, a court appearance and even a crime I reported so the arrest should have been there as it's my right to view those details also.

    I was young (19) at the time and actually had a good chat with the guard as he went through the procedures.. For some reason i'v a feeling they never bothered recording it?

    It would have to be recorded. The pulse system is balanced against the written custody record. It's most likely that for some reason you have more than one identity on the system. This can happen when a date of birth is wrong or if you changed address. If you want to get it sorted I would write to the local station and ask them to look into it. There are Gardaí in each station assigned to look into any kind of duplicate incidents and they can make sure the records are merged.

    Actually Looking at pulse records I've recieved. There is a incident in that estate recorded bit its only recorded as a search and nothing more. Surely it would be recorded as an arrest ?

    The arrest would likely be logged as a part of that incident.

    right ok, If not, the only other thing I was thinking was that my father has the exact same name as me and obviousally same address..
