Redbubble customs/handling charges

    I was thinking of buying a tote bag from redbubble.com. The price of the bag including shipping and VAT will come to about €20. I know the site is a US one so I was wondering if anyone has gotten anything from them before and how they found the delivery? I'm afraid of being hit by customs and handling charges. Does the customs and handling apply to everything regardless of value or size of item being shipped? I've been looking online but have only been able to find info on things being shipped to the UK. I'd really appreciate any info or experiences anyone has.
