Two Jobs (Kinda....)

    Hi all,

So the last 8 months (ish) I've been working in an internship (through JobBridge using my degree and masters), and then I kept on my retail job at the weekends.

Don't ask me how I stuck it this long, I've done 14 days in a row sometimes. But overall the two places would be sound i.e. the weekend job would give me some weekends off and it would almost always be only in one day at the weekend. Same with the internship, they'd give me an odd day off that I asked for too.

Anyway, I'm getting really sick of doing the two, and I was thinking the other day that even if I don't get what I'm seeking out of the internship - an apprenticeship - then I won't want to be going back to the retail job I did before full time, I would be looking high and low for an apprenticeship or another job that would make me more appealing in which to get an apprenticeship (basically put my masters to use).

    What would you do.....?

Should I just pack in the weekend job? ............. I'm getting enough money through the internship to cover myself, and as said if nothing comes of it I'll be looking elsewhere rather than going back to the retail job.

The internship is up after 9 months correct so just one more month to go?

If I was you I would keep the retail job for now in case you don't get kept on as it's always easier to find a job or a opportunity while you already have something and plus it will mean you will still have money coming in.

You could also say it to your boss on the internship is their much chance of you been kept on as you are thinking of quitting your retail job as its exhausting, I don't know how he would take it though.

    Best of luck.

I thought you could only do jobbridge if you are on the dole. How can u be on dole if u have part time work?

    Cash in Hand me thinks?

    Or an Unofficial Job-bridge?

You can still work part time and be eligible for the dole. Certain criteria applies.

X's and O's, or Casual Job-Seekers's which is the proper name I think, is, or was, what I was on before commencing JobBridge.

Similar job - if you're on it for three months or more you're eligible for JobBridge, they will give you the full JobBridge payment and once your part time work doesn't interfere with the internship everything is all above board, you can quit the part time job anytime either. Basically it's just ignored once it doesn't interfere with the internship.

Anyway, has anyone anything to add to the thread besides questioning the legality/correctness of the situation?
