I've got to travel to Rathvilly, Carlow on friday afternoon from city centre. The earliest I can leave is 3.15-3.30 and I need to be there by 5.30 - 5.45. Now the AA route quide tells me its 1 hr journey on the N81 but I know it's closer to 80/90 mins in normal traffic at legal speed limits! My question is if anyone is used to leaving the city around that time on a friday on that particular route have I given myself enough time? Or would I be better going the naas road and cutting over to N81 further down in Kildare?
    thanks

go through tallaght and it takes about 45-50 mins from jobstown to rathvilly, leave early is my advice before the evening rush and avoid newlands cross if you can

If your up for a cross country route take the N4 go through adamstown -newcastle- rathcoole- saggart and upto blessington but its bad roads but its an alternative route to avoid the m50....
