Pet dogs and how amazing they are

I have a pet dog and she is simply amazing. The family had her for a few years now and she is just brillant.

She helped me through so much for years. Like through bad patches like funerals and some b@stard men breaking my heart. She was there to lick my tears away.

I find problems melt away when I have her to snuggle up to. I allow her to sleep in my bed. She's a great comforter.

I love how when I return home after being out she's there with a big greeting.

For the past couple of months my dog has taken to licking me. We've been friends for a long time and she always had licks for me but her licking for the past couple of months is a little to extreme. I'm talking about pure lick baths here. At night time before going to sleep she's spends ages licking me - my neck, my face and my arms mainly. Morning and during the days when I'm free too.

Me and my sister were sitting on the couch yesterday both wearing shorts and my dog only licked me and my legs and it went on for ages.

My sister pipes up and says 'maybe you're sick and she's trying to make you better'. 'Maybe you have cancer' she says.

I googled 'dogs detecting sickness in their owners' and loads of things came up and needless to say I'm scared fecking senseless.

Doubt it is cancer. Sounds like your dog is trying to get you in the mood.

    Cats FTW.

    I prefer cats.

    I like dogs ...LOVE CATS.

I never let dogs lick ...never liked it. Generally they nuzzle me and don't like.

Don't worry my Dad has cancer....the dog is clueless hasn't the foggiest.

It is to do with salt on your skin...it's like insect bites ..or hormones ...some people attract a dog more easily or dogs prefer to lick some people.Another reason that dogs lick humans is to gather information about them. Dogs use the scent receptors located in their nose and mouth to process information about a person. A person who is secreting sweat from his or her body is actually unknowingly sending information about him or herself to the dog. This is one reason why a human’s feet are so attractive to a dog. Human feet contain many sweat glands. Eccrine glands release moisture that contains salts, water and waste products. Some dogs love the taste of salt.Sebaceous glands, which are found near hair follicles, release sebum. The combination of the sweat and sebaceous gland secretions provide a lot of detail about you to an inquisitive dog that can tell if you are afraid, stressed or happy.

They gather info on where you have been...who you have been with....etc.

Or maybe your pupster is more attached to you :)
