    Hi all,

Recently acquired a taste (addiction) into the pornstar martini cocktail but having major issues sourcing the ingredients in dublin.

Tried a few of the specialist off licence that are recommended in other threads (devaneys etc) but none of them seem to stock what I need.

Only things I can actually find in a shop is
-vanilla vodka in O'Briens (29 euro for 70cl seems expensive too)
    - passion fruit in dunnes ( only 3 per pack and they're usually low in stock too)

So basically coming to see if you guys know any place which might sell ingredients in dublin or online.... or suggestions on alternatives

    INGREDIENTS

1 tbsp vanilla sugar, to taste
    50 ml vanilla vodka
    25 ml passionfruit liqueur
    10 ml passionfruit puree
    fresh passionfruit, to decorate
    50 ml champagne

Vanilla Sugar - try the baking aisle in a supermarket, most Polish shops, or you can make your own by putting sugar in a jar with a vanilla pod but you have to leave that to infuse for a couple of weeks.

Champagne - in Dublin City Centre Marks & Spencers, Dunnes Stores off licence on North Earl Street & Fallon & Byrne definitely sell champagne. I also know Baggot Street Wines have champagne and also have deals on it but that's out of town a little. If it can be replaced by a sparkling wine you'll pick up prosecco (and also cava) in Dunnes, Tesco, Marks & Spencer

Cheers for that, didn't think of checking the baking isle :/

It's mostly the passion fruit puree / liqueur that is the issue though, in all the shops I've checked the closest I found was passion fruit syrup

Sounds yummy, can you use a cherry liqueur with the syrup? As for purée, can you make your own and freeze?

You can make vanilla vodka easy enough, plenty of recipes online. You basically just add vanilla pods to vodka. Likewise, vanilla sugar is dead easy to make.

You can get passionfruit puree on Amazon or you can get Finest Call Passion Fruit Puree (which is really puree+water+sugar) in a few specialist off licenses. You could also try going to a cocktail bar and asking the manager there if you could buy some off them.

Celtic Whiskey Store on Dawson St sometimes has Bols Passionfruit liqueur. If not they can order it in.

Could passion fruit coulis be used instead of puree? If so tesco sell small bottles of it.

That would do the job as it's mainly passionfruit juice and puree mixed up but it can be quite expensive if I remember rightly. Shelf life might also be an issue if the whole bottle wasn't going to be used in one sitting.

Come to think of it, if you can get source affordable whole passionfruits you could use them.

Puree is just a fancy word for mushed, isn't it? Scoop out the inners of some passion fruits, pick out the seeds, dump it in a blender and blitz it in five or ten second goes til it's the consistency you want. Passionfruit puree.

I think the Celtic Whiskey shop on Dawson street might do passionfruit liquer. If not Drinkstore in Stonebatter have it. http://www.drinkstore.ie/Bols-Passion-Fruit-700ML-8716000961167/

Expensive but it's for 1kg, I don't know how long it would keep once open possibly it could be frozen in single serve quantities.

A simpler way for the sugar, rather than waiting the X weeks for it to infuse or buying special sugar, is just make up a 1:1 sugar syrup and add tea spoons of vanilla extract per litre of water used. It'll taste perfect.

The Puree would be simple enough to make if you got your hands on fresh passionfruit. Just throw it in the blender, if it seems too thick, then throw in a tea spoon of water and blend again. strain the excess water off but not the thick juice.

A good quality Cava can usually be gotten for less than a sh1t quality champagne. And IMO, will taste better.
