I'm 18 just finished school and can't get a job. I have applied in hotels, shops, bars and restaurants.
I have no experience but how can I get any if no one will give me a job. I have even offered to do a trial so even if they don't keep me on, I get experience for my cv.
I need a job and to earn my own money as I can't keep living off my parents.
    Any advice ?

I can't really help... but fair play to you.

You have the right attitude... keep going... it will happen.

Go down to Fas, talk to an officer and see what courses they can get you on. Get a skill in some area that you might have an interest in. That will keep you busy, try for an apprenticeship. The world is your oyster. Sitting at home saying you can't find a job will only lead to depression, get out there and make something of yourself.

Money doesn't bring happiness. You are quite young time will pass you by unless you learn to adapt to changing circumstances.

If you go to your local charity shop and volunteer there, even one day a week you can use this as retail experience on your cv :)

I applied for ever job in Dublin that was retail, restaurant and bar related. I was so frustrated after a few weeks. But after 3 weeks I got an interview and a job. I imagine you have finished the leaving cert about 2 weeks ago. Its simply too short to find a job. If you have no experience, volunteer in a charity shop so you gain experience and increase your chances of finding a job. It's extremely difficult to find a job without any experience

I know your probably looking for summer work that could eventually end up as part time work when you start college...

did you try local leisureplex, spar, pennys, mickey d's, etc etc......

Borrow a lawnmower and go around the area charging for a cut... or knock around looking to take bottles to the bottle bank for a few quid.

IF your stuck for a few quid, you could rake a few quid in.

I would give a few quid to a young lad that was looking to earn it and I'm sure others would too!

Maybe your CV could be changed to make you seem more employable... get a neighbour or parent to have a look !
