Female sparring partner

Hi, I am a woman who trains in martial arts, predominately Muay Thai. I live in Dundalk and the club I'm in rarely has any other women in the class and those who occasionally do turn up never want to spar.

I do spar with men but it's not the same as sparring with another woman (I have sparred with a woman a handful of times and I can tell you it's completely different - she was in and around the same size/weight and wasn't afraid to hit me! I just found I came on leaps and bounds when I had a proper sparring partner).

What I really want to know is could someone recommend a club in either Dublin or Belfast (I am pretty much half way between the two) that would allow me to maybe travel once a month or so, preferably on a Saturday, to spar with any women they have in their club?

Please don't say contact other clubs here in Dundalk - I have looked into it and there don't seem to be any other women in these clubs, let alone soneone who'd want to spar with me.

Bridgestone Thai in Dublin have 4-5 who train regularly, mostly around 60kg and of varying experience levels.

I think Dublin Thai have some as well?

There was also a facebook group for female martial artists with girls from different styles (kickboxing, Thai, MMA etc) that do or did meet up at different locations for sparring nights. Can't find a link for you but hopefully someone can post one for you.

You're dead right by the way, best way to improve is lots of sparring.

    Best of luck with it

The fb group is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/163247283797164

There hasn't been a sparring day organised in a while but there is a list of active female fighters on that page which could be good for finding a sparring partner.

SBG HQ on the Naas road have female MMA fighters who also complete in K1 and im sure would love to have you down for sparring.

I know there is striking classes and sparing on Saturdays around 12.

CMac MMA in the blanchardstown area have 3 ladies who have competed recently and spar every week

You'll find them on Facebook. Deano O'Sullivan runs the club so search for him also
