New Driver

Does anyone use the Taylormade Rocketballz RBZ Stage 2 Driver and if so would they recommend it? I see this one in my local pro shop, but I also see the SLDR Driver but this happens to be about twice the price so am a bit unsure of doubling my outlay for similar clubs.

I do see the Taylormade JetSpeed Driver on offer elsewhere for €239 reduced from €299 so could also be an option.

Can anyone recommend one of the above if they have used them? Mainly the RBZ Stage 2.

I use the RBZ Stage 2 driver. Personally I like it, but there are better drivers on the market. If you have your mind set on Taylormade go with the SLDR. Ping are probably the most forgiving driver on the market. My advice to you would be to try out a few demo drivers first before buying!!!!

Might see if I can find somewhere that allows me to try a few demo drivers out.

My current one is about 7 years old I do like it but was wondering if the technology had advanced to such a stage where I could get a few extra yards out of a newer club, I hit my newer 3 wood pretty much as far as the driver so that's kind of where the thought comes from.

    Have the stage 2 3wood & it's a great club. Haven't tried the driver.

As above, best bet is to find a range with a golf shop like spawell or kinsealy in Dublin. They'll let you demo them & you can get some more realistic feedback.

I'd imagine the rbz is more forgiving than the sldr, jetspeed is probably a good balance between the two

I have the stage 2 driver. I'm in the process of changing it though. It's the wrong shaft for me and I'm generating way too much spin. Went for a driver fitting last week and the one that came out on top was the sldr 430 in stiff shaft. My advice to you would be to certainly get fitted. It only takes 30 to 45 mins and it should erase any doubts in your mind as to whether your using the right equipment. After that its all down to you and consistency....

American Golf in Dundrum have an indoor practice bay you can use to try a few shots before buying. I've no connection except have bought a few clubs there.

That's handy to know, thanks for that I was thinking of heading to Blanchardstown almost certain there is somewhere there that has a net in the shop for hitting balls.

I might check with the Pro in the local shop too I did get an email recently about him holding group sessions at the practice ground where he would have his camera available to give people an idea of swing speed etc. which I assume would help me choose the right shaft for my swing.
