    Hi,

I've been seriously thinking about doing the half marathon in August in Dublin.

I am able to run 10K in an hour & I run reguarly. I would be willing to put in the training.

Am I mad? Or is it achievable to go from 10K to half marathon in 6 weeks?!?

    Tilly.

I'm thinking of doing this myself. Similarly to the OP I can run 10k in under an hour quite comfortably, I do a couple of 5 - 6 k runs a week, do a good deal of cycling and structured cycle training (I recognise raycun from the cycling forum) and have a good aerobic fitness and endurance - Is it a case of getting progressively more and more running miles into the legs? I wouldn't be too interested in times, but would like to be able to finish it.

Yes, its the same principle as someone who goes out for 30k spins and wants to do a 100k sportive - build up the distances over a period of time. Some part of the fitness is transferable but you need the specific training too.

Absolutely no problem in six weeks Tilly. You are already running consistantly and it's only a matter of adding a mile per week onto your long slow runs at the weekend. If you cant get up to about 11 miles, you'll be well set for the 13.1M. Best of luck with it, but understand that you'll probably want to do a marathon next! :)
