    Hi

I'm an Irish citizen who moved to Northern Ireland as a teenager. I'm moving back to Dublin soon to work in a new job. I've never held a pps number.

How do I go about getting one?

    Thanks

Contacting the Department Of Social Welfare would be your best bet IMO.

Welfare issue PPS numbers. Not Revenue.

Depends on when you moved to the north, now PPS numbers are issues at birth since 1971 but that was not always the case, they used to issue them when you got your first job.

I acquired my PPS number from the local tax office as soon as I turned sixteen.

They don't now. The link I provided says Welfare issue them. That's where I got mine...

But I reckon Gerard's right. The OP may very well already have a PPS. Maybe you could check, OP?

Only the DSP issue PPS numbers.if the Op goes to the tax office they'll be sent to the DSP and that would be a waste of time.
OP you need to go to the DSP office with some photo ID and they'll give you your PPSN.

Right, that's fine. I'm just telling you where I went.
I may be wrong now but I'm just saying where I got mine.
