Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that loads of ads aren't being marked as sold anymore now that adverts.ie have started to charge the seller once the item is marked as sold?

I'm a but uncertain where you're going; are you implying that people leave items as unsold to avoid fees or that fewer people buy stuff from adverts after they implemented fees? The first one will be fixed ala Ebay I'd guess (everyone charged to advertise); the second one only works out if there's a suitable alternative (never used Adverts so no clue if there is one).

It's the first one, people not marking items as sold even though they have been. They'll have to start either charging to advertise soon otherwise the whole site will be clogged up with these sort of ads.

There's also a hell of a lot of items showing as sold for 29 with obvious higher offers accepted.

The whole system is flawed. They now want you to list all items in a separate ad.

Say I have 200 Dvd's for sale. I can't just list them all on one ad with a price of €5 each. I have to list 200 ads. Its clogs up the whole site and other ads get pushed down never to be seen again.

The whole approach seems really amateurish. Like it was thrown together in a brain storming session between lunch breaks.

How can we make money off these adds, but without becoming eBay. and having to take on the added responsibilities to customers, that would come with such a move.

Frankly I don't see what they added to the day to day quality of service.

And the app may work. But it is supposed to help people get sales or buy from sellers. Instead it seems forcing users that don't want the app, to go Download it everytime they try click a link belonging to adverts is more important. It's counter productive.

That does very little for the site but does boost the numbers of ads on the site for the beancounters, they can then be happy that on paper everything is fantabulous.

Or instead of making up conspiracy theories we can look at what actually happened. Adverts implements a new system that calculates the fee on a per sale basis. Hence putting up 200 DVDs sold at 5 EUR each in one add means it can't calculate what fee to charge (if any) and hence they require separate adds for the system to handle it were as previously their system did not need to care.

AFAIK Adverts are only charging a €1 ' Success Fee' for items that get sold for €30 or more, it's still free for below that amount.

From what I can see sellers like the above who have 200 DVDs for sale are forced into creating 200 ads, unlike before when they could sell all from one ad. So even though Adverts wouldn't have made any money from those 200 sales they are now asking sellers to type out 200 ads and take up even more space on their site. That's just not feasible for sellers so a lot of them have left Adverts.

Adverts used to be great for ads like the above where someone was moving house and was having a sale of their old unwanted stuff for bargain prices, they would just throw up an ad with everything in it and then mark each item as sold when it sold. It was a much simpler system for the type of person who had a lot of small value items for sale. The site is worse for now having those sellers about any longer IMO.

Not quite accurate. The fees are listed here
